In August, Women Empowerment for Self-Employment (WE4SELF) had the honor of hosting an American Congressional Delegation in our Girls and Young Women Take Action for Peace (GYWTAP) project communities in Todee District, Rural Montserrado County.
The high-level delegation, which included U.S. Senator Jack Reed and Representative Gabe Amo—both from the State of Rhode Island—visited the project sites funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF) through Plan International Liberia.
Led by our Board Chair, Madam Grace Scotland Briamah, the delegation toured the communities and witnessed firsthand the transformative work being carried out with girls, young women, and peace hut women. They expressed deep admiration for WE4SELF’s efforts in promoting peacebuilding, gender equality, and community resilience.
This visit underscores the growing recognition of community-led initiatives and the vital role women and young people play in sustaining peace and development in Liberia.
